If you require SmartSync to be installed and you are a Sage 50 (UK) user, this guide is for you and will explain the process and the steps you need to take before the installation.
Installation Server
We will need to install SmartSync on a Windows PC or Server. This server should be on 24 x 7 and be a reliable device.
It must have the Sage 50 client software installed. So this means the same software you use for Sage is required on the device.
Installation Checks
Our support person will remote onto your server using TeamViewer. You will need full admin rights. We will need to install a Windows service and for this we need full access to the server.
You will need to create a dedicated Sage username and password that SmartSync can use. Make a note of this. But provide it to us during the remote session or just before.
Installation Time
We will agree a time when we will remote onto your server. Provided the above is all true - admin rights , Sage client installed and a dedicated username and password has been created and works, then our installation should be completed within an hour.
Settings
There are a number of configuration settings that need to be set as part of the setup that affect the structure of Zahara. This includes how Departments are used and other mappings. It's important for us to know how to set SmartSync up in advance and its preferable to avoid unwinding previous or aborted installations.
Sage Drive
If you use Sage Drive - ie your Sage files are stored in Sage's cloud, then unfortunately SmartSync is not compatible. If you would like to take advantage of this more bespoke, automated solution, you will need to revert to local data storage.
